The day after I posted my last blog about God being with us in the waiting rooms of life was a Sunday. I was at church and during worship we were singing a song that had a line that I believe was "I will keep my eyes on your name". It jumped out at me because I was expecting the song to say "I will keep my eyes on you." As I thought about keeping my eyes on his name, I closed my eyes and saw the name Jesus being written in cursive across a blue sky. At second glance I had the impression that God was writing his son's name across the sky with his finger. As I looked one more time, I saw the ending underlined...Jesus. It took me back to the ending thought in my last blog about God being with us in the waiting rooms of life.
The name for God, I AM. The name for Jesus, Immanuel...God with us. He is so with us that it is part of his name, Jes-us. It makes me excited about Christmas already; celebrating the day God sent his son to be with us!
And remember, before Jesus left this earth he promised in John 14:16-17a "...I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth..." Hebrews 13:5 tells us, "...God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Even today Jesus is with us through the Holy Spirit...Jes-us !
I am reminded of the chorus in Amy Grant's "God is With Us".
" He's the savior we have been praying for
In our humble hearts he will dwell
God is in us, God is for us
God is with us, Emmanuel"
