Like Chelsea, we, too, are called to this childlike joyfulness, trusting that our Father is near. The Bible teaches us that if we come near to God, He will come near to us (James 4:8). And it teaches us that we can draw near to God with full assurance that faith brings (Hebrews 10:22). The very name of Jesus is Immanuel, God with us!
A few Sundays ago a friend reminded of an old hymn. The hymn was "There is a Place of Quiet Rest" and the very first lines always draw me in as I hear, "There is a place of quiet rest, / near to the heart of God,...", they bring a picture to me of laying my head on Jesus' chest and resting there. Just a bit later at church I engaged in a modern worship chorus that shared the same theme, the one that I needed for that day. Both songs spoke of the assurance that God is close and watching over us. Emphasis to this place of quiet rest was given to these lines just a short time later when we sang "Never Once." The chorus of the song is found below.
Scars and struggles on the way
But with joy our hears can say
Yes, our hearts can say
Never once did we ever walk alone
Never once did You leave us on our own
You are faithful, God, You are faithful
Life presents us with many scars and struggles, many obstacles along our path, but we never walk alone and when things get tough we can find a place of quiet rest near to God's heart.
